FLM NEWS AND OPERATIONS

Bartholomew School Service 2004a 

FLM has done a dummy run of the former route and put out messages on social media asking for parents to contact us. A few have. We have tried to get a meaningful response from Home to School Transport but not yet been successful. The case remains unproven therefore but not yet closed.

Witney High Street 

Tomorrow marks the start of Phase 2 of the works even though Phase 1 is not yet complete. It does mean that our bus stops will change. There will be a new temporary bus stop near HSBC on the new pavement under The Hill called Stop C. Where the buses have been stopping in Langdale Gate has been numbered Stop E. Whilst this will not be our main stop it is still a registered bus stop and we can still use if any passengers want to use it. Stop C is intended for use by WOCT and the other community buses. Passengers will be dropped off opposite Stop E on Langdale Gate.  I will be down there Monday morning to see the new arrangements in action and no doubt see some of you on the buses in Witney from Wednesday. 

Going Forward 

FLM, along with other local operators, has been asked by the County Council if we would talk to the new Directors of Going Forward who have been doing an amazing job keeping their services running after the sad unexpected death of their founder Mike Ward.  We are of course happy to talk to anyone especially in view of the practical help given to FLM in our early days. All these small bus operators should both talk to each other and work to help each other. Together a lot more can be achieved. 

Vehicles 

Both vehicles had their PMIs this week and Rosie also had a service. 

Donations

Drivers may have noticed that the donation tin now gets fed much more often than it did which is obviously good news. This includes a donation to help pay for the bottled water we have been giving out to passengers during the long hot summer and which I know has been much appreciated.  Something tells me we are going to be giving out a lot of water this coming week. The important thing is that we keep our passengers and drivers well hydrated and happy during what is a challenging period weather wise.

Last week was much quieter in terms of passengers but numbers using buses are like a wave. There will be peaks and troughs and each must be ridden out. It is the average number of passenger journeys that counts not records interesting though they may be. We cannot meet every need but we will try to meet as many as we can.
